Ganesh Chaturthi is the Hindu festival celebrated in honour of the Lord Ganesha, Son of Mahadeva and Devi Parvati. Ganesha Chaturthi, the great Ganesha festival, also known as ‘Vinayak Chaturthi’ or ‘Vinayaka Chavithi’ is observed as the birthday of Lord Ganesha.
Ganesh Utsav of Vighnaharta Ganapati will be celebrated on 22 August Saturday on Bhadrapad Shukla Paksha Chaturthi. On this day, devotees install Lord Ganpati in their home. It is said that Lord Ganapati takes away the sufferings of his devotees. Lord Ganesha is immersed 10 days later on Anant Chaturdashi.
It is Celebrated during the Hindu month of Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September) and the grandest and most elaborate of them, especially in the Maharashtra,where it lasts for 10 days, ending on the day of ‘Ananta Chaturdashi’.
