Chhath puja is an ancient Hindu festival of indian subcontinent and people of indian ethinicity and is the only Vedic Festival dedicated to the Hindu Sun God, Surya and Chhathi Maiya (ancient Vedic Goddess Usha).The Chhath Puja is performed in order to thank Surya for sustaining life on earth and to request the granting of certain wishes.

Chhath Puja is also known as Surya Shashti, Chhathi and Dala Chhath.

The Chhath Puja is performed in order to thank Surya for sustaining life on earth This festival is observed mainly by  the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Chhath  Puja is celebrated on the sixth day of the month Kārtika of the Hindu lunar Nepali calendar.

4th of November 2016 – day of bath and eat-Nahay khay/Arwa Arwain

5th of November 2016 – day of fast which ends after sunset after the 36 hour long fast- Lohanda and Kharna

6th of November 2016-day of Sandhya Argh known as the evening offerings- Sandhya Arghya
7th of November 2016 – day of Suryodaya Argh and the Paran or breaking of the fast- Usha Arghya
